An endangered octupus in a tree...get real!!
This video demonstrated the need for teachers and students to question the reliability of resources that are accessible via the internet. It was noted that students believed that the site was genuine and the information was reliable because the website contained information which was useful for their assignment. This brings into question the usefulness of the internet in accessing information easily and quickly rather than taking steps to ensure what you are accessing is 'quality' information.

New + Literacy= New Literacies
New literacies? What are they? Why are they classified 'new'?
The technological landscape of today has transformed ways of teaching, learning, interacting and communicating. Technology has enabled 'new' literacies by transforming old methods, creating opportunities for creativity by utilising skills, tools and knowledge that are aligned with real world experiences. New literacies have created avenues for interactivity that transcend geographical, cultural, ethnic or physical barriers. It is interesting how technology has shaped and influenced ways of communicating today, for example, the use of blogging as a way of interacting in an educational context.
